Teaching Spiritual and Cultural Resistance in the Holocaust through Film
All English and Social Studies Teachers in Middle and High School in NC are eligible to attend the NC Council on the Holocaust’s workshop Teaching Spiritual and Cultural Resistance in the Holocaust through Film is more limited in space than our conferences, so signing up early is important. Substitutes will be paid for all NC public school teachers. (Note: Teachers can only get one substitute paid for in a school year for our programs. You may attend multiple programs, but we can only pay for one substitute.) This workshop will be held in Wilmington, NC.
Teachers will learn about spiritual and cultural resistance in the Holocaust through two case studies, each with a classroom-length documentary film and classroom-ready lessons. Come and learn about the extraordinary resistance in Terezin through the Defiant Requiem Foundation and the courage of women in Latvia through the Women of the Shoah “She Wouldn’t Take Off Her Boots” memorial in Greensboro, NC.
Below, you will see the agenda for this workshop, which will also have all of the presentations and files embedded for your use by the day of the workshop.
