100 Years of Atrocity: International Response to Genocide in the 20th Century
WorkshopExplore a century of genocide through a comparative examination of atrocities from the turn of the 20th century through the Rwandan genocide of the 1990s. Through historical case studies and classroom-ready approaches, educators will examine not only how and why genocides unfolded, but how governments, international organizations, and individuals responded—or failed to respond—as mass violence occurred. Participants will consider how international action and inaction shaped these events and explore meaningful ways to help students understand the choices, responsibilities, and consequences surrounding genocide.
