Artistic Responses to the Holocaust: The Canvas of Memory
WorkshopExplore the Holocaust through the powerful ways artists, musicians, composers, and playwrights have responded through music, visual art, and theater. Educators will engage with performers and professionals connected to upcoming Holocaust-themed productions by Piedmont Opera and the Winston-Salem Symphony, discovering creative approaches for bringing these works and themes into the classroom. Participants will also hear from a Holocaust survivor or 2G/3G speaker and explore resources and strategies for using the arts to deepen students’ understanding of memory, resilience, resistance, and the human experience. This interdisciplinary workshop welcomes Holocaust educators as well as English, social studies, visual art, music, and theater teachers.
